DLS for Mempro™ Virus-like Particles (VLPs) Characterization
Creative Biostructure has established an advanced virus-like particles platform to provide custom VLPs characterization services including DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering). VLPs characterization and qualification play an important role in VLPs production. The physical properties of VLPs such as size and polydispersity can greatly affect the efficacy and safety of VLPs in vaccine development. DLS is one of the most applied technique by Creative Biostructure to detect the size, the aggregation and the zeta potential of virus-like particles.

DLS, also known as photon correlation spectroscopy or quasi-elastic light scattering, is able to determine the virus-like particle size quickly and accurately. DLS has emerged as the simplest and most executable table-top detection method to perform, because it only need an ordinary lab environment. DLS has developed into popular tools within pharmacy community, according to techniques that were exclusively available to colloid chemists. The compact, integrated and affordable instruments offer user-friendly digital interfaces, which is along with possibility for the comprehensive data analysis. Furthermore, these techniques are non-invasive, and require minimal sample preparation without pre-experimental calibration. Creative Biostructure has equipped the modern DLS instruments which can not only guide our experienced scientists on the quality of the generated data with possibility for time-dependent measurements but also export the data traces as files compatible with various plotting software to provide you the best research figures.
DLS has a lot of advantages over traditional microscopy such as TEM and AFM because DLS offers the hydrodynamic size of virus-like particles in solution. For example, TEM images often do not substantiate well with the data obtained from DLS. DLS is capable of measuring bigger number of particles (in millions) compared to TEM (few hundreds). Thus, DLS provides more robust data on size distribution and PDI. As a result, DLS is a promising method to measure the size of VLPs and has the potential to be used to process development with upstream and downstream samples.
Besides DLS technique, Creative Biostructure also provides a variety of Mempro™ Virus-like Particles (VLPs) Characterization services, including Enzymatic NA activity assay, RP-HPLC, ELISA, Western blot, Electron microscopy (TEM), LC-MS, Surface Plasmon Resonance Immunoassay (SPR), Electrospray differential mobility analysis (ES-DMA), etc. Please feel free to contact us for a detailed quote.
