Native Protein Purification
Versatile proteins from natural sources are used as medicinal agents as they are obtained using molecular tools. Unlike recombinant proteins, naturally isolated proteins do not have involved tags, and their molecular behavior, enzymatic activity, and other properties are under physiological conditions. Isolation and purification of a single protein from native source containing mixtures of unrelated substances is quite challenging. Protein properties, such as amino acid composition, sequence, size, charge, shape, solubility, isoelectric point and hydrophobicity are distinct, and thus, are exploited in various isolation approaches development. Creative Biostructure has developed special protein isolation and purification systems for different kinds of sources to meet our customer’s requirements.
Natural sources
Acceptable samples include, but not limited to:
- Bacteria and yeasts
- Cell lines and primary cells
- Plant-based systems and plant tissues
- Human and animal tissue
- Human and animal blood products
- Extracts from disease samples
Applications of native proteins
Native proteins are used as pharmaceutical agents, as well as protein-based nanoparticles in drug and gene delivery systems. Extended applications include uses in controlled delivery, as composites, as microparticles and as beads. Following is a list of examples of native protein application:
- As novel antifungal agents
- As anti-hypertensive use
- Acting as nano vehicle
- As vehicles for bioactives
- In microparticle preparation
- In microencapsulation
- As potential diagnostic marker for severe allergic reactions
General protein purification starts from extraction, followed by precipitation, centrifugation and chromatographic separation. Different chromatography systems including affinity chromatography, size exclusion chromatography, ion-exchange chromatography, hydrophobic chromatography and reversed phase chromatography are available for advanced purification at Creative Biostructure. Protein products can be analyzed by various techniques such as SDS-PAGE/Native PAGE and mass spectroscopy based on specific demands. Creative Biostructure emphasizes on establishment of the optimal strategies for protein purification to provide cost-efficient services for scientific research projects and pharmaceuticals developments.
