Pathology Research

Inquiry

Pathology is a branch of medical science, which studies the cause, origin, and nature of diseases. It requires the examination of tissues, organs, body fluids, and autopsies to analyze and diagnose diseases.

As a way to study diseases and tumors, cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) plays an important role in understanding intracellular ultrastructure and abnormality. Compared with other pathologic techniques, cryo-EM can be used for clinical disease analysis and pathological studies.

The roles of cryo-EM in pathological diagnosis include:

  • Collecting specific ultrastructural information for pathological diagnosis
  • Obtaining final pathological diagnosis by supplementing or revising other test results
  • Verifying data or results generated by other methods
